Low Carb Vegetarian Diet:
7-Day Indian Plan
A high-protein, low-carb Indian vegetarian meal plan built for weight loss. Paneer, tofu, dals, and sprouts do the heavy lifting — no chicken, no eggs required. Every day lands under ~100g carbs and above 90g protein using ingredients from your regular kirana store.
The six rules of a low-carb vegetarian Indian diet
Carbs under 100g/day
Cap starchy carbs — rice, roti, potato — at one small portion per meal. Replace volume with paneer, tofu, dals, sabzi, and salads.
30g protein per meal
Paneer, tofu, soya chunks, sprouts, curd, and dals stacked together. Vegetarian protein needs variety to hit the target — combine two sources per meal.
Fill half the plate with sabzi
Non-starchy vegetables — palak, methi, lauki, bhindi, cauliflower, cabbage — add fibre and satiety without moving the carb needle.
Ghee and nuts, not seed oils
1-2 tsp ghee, a handful of almonds/walnuts, and cold-pressed mustard or coconut oil. Skip refined sunflower and soybean oils.
Swap rice for cauliflower rice 3x/week
Grated cauliflower sautéed with jeera and turmeric mimics rice at a fraction of the carbs — pairs perfectly with rajma or dal.
No liquid sugar
Packaged juice, sweetened chai, and flavoured yogurt spike insulin. Stick to water, buttermilk, black coffee, and unsweetened chai.

Track your vegetarian weight loss with Calibrate
The hardest part of a vegetarian diet for weight loss is hitting protein without over-eating carbs. Calibrate's food database is tuned to Indian vegetarian staples — paneer, tofu, dals, sprouts — and the Bio-Score flags micronutrient gaps common to vegetarian eaters (B12, iron, omega-3) so you don't lose muscle while dropping fat.
